Sofia Convention Bureau is the official body responsible for promoting Sofia – the capital of Bulgaria as a meeting, incentive, convention, exhibition and special event destination. The country is a full right member of the European Union since 1 January 2007.

The organization, which is the successor of the Bulgarian Convention Bureau, was set up in 2007 as a non-profit organization with around 50 members including hotels, restaurants, venues, professional conference organizers and other business tourism suppliers.

Over 150 international scientific events bringing more than 400 000 delegates to Sofia have been successfully organized over the last 10 years. Congress Centre-Sofia, National Palace of Culture is a founding member of SCB. The Venue is the winner of the 2009 New European Economy Silver Award for Best Congress Centre, the 2008 European Business Award and the 2005 AIPC Apex Award for the World’s Best Congress Centre.

Members of SCB are the best hotels in Sofia including the 5-star hotels, tourism bodies, PCOs, scientific bodies, humanitarian bodies, travel agencies, unions and associations.

The objectives of SCB are to:

  • Attract international and national events to Sofia and Bulgaria
  • Provide information and assistance to meeting and incentive planners, travel agents, visitors and the worldwide media
  • Help grow the high-yield business tourism market.
The tasks of SCB are to:
  • Provide information on hotels’ availability
  • Establish contacts with our partners (PCOs, hotels, transport companies)
  • Provide premises and equipment for conference activities
  • Assist with the preparation of conference requests
  • Provide restaurants and catering
  • Organize delegates’ accompanying programmes
  • Provide transfer services
  • Organize pre- and post- event tours
